Vacation Rental

Our vacation cottage is located in Southeastern Adams County in the foothills of the Edge of Appalachia Plateau. It was newly built in 2011 and consists of two large bedrooms, bath room with shower, and a combination living room and kitchen / dining area. It sits on a high knoll off Sulpher Creek Rd. and faces the Ohio River and the Kentucky Hills, affording views from the front porch. It is entirely furnished and self contained, operating off AC / DC current and generator and solar power. Our property connects directly with Shawnee Forest and offers access to the Blackburn Ridge Bridle Trail. There is a parking area for horseman. The forest here consists of mature eastern hardwoods and flora and fauna unique to the area. Just over the ridge is the Shawnee Wilderness area. The cottage is minutes away from the Eluett Edge of Appalachia Nature Center and the hiking trails surrounding Buzzards Roost Rock and the Lynx Prairie Wilderness area, where many unusual flowers from the glacial era are found. Amish country is about 30 minutes from the cottage. Five miles east on Rt. 52 is Sandy Springs, the site of the largest Paleo Indian campsites in the United States. Historic Maysville, Kentucky, is 40 minutes west and Portsmouth, Ohio, home of the famous floodwall murals, is 30 minutes east. We provide a canoe with the cottage rental for access to Ohio Brush Creek and the Ohio River, located minutes away. There is an outside fire pit and picnic area and large front porch for relaxing. Linens are provided, as are complimentary snacks and beverages but guests are responsible for their own meals.

Jacks Restaurant is located 5 miles east on Rt. 52 and offers a great home cooked meal. Jack Lewis is renowned as a chef and expert gunsmith and has a shop next to the restaurant. Shawnee Lodge is 25 miles east and the Shawnee Golf Course is 20 miles east. Highway 52 Carry-out is 3 miles west.
